SEZARC at AZA, EAZA and ISWE

SEZARC staff Linda Penfold and Lara Metrione attended, collectively, conferences held by the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums, European Association for Zoos and aquariums and the International Society of Wildlife Endocrinology.

Linda Penfold, PhD., Director of SEZARC, presented at Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) “Translating Science into Practical Management for Sustainable Equid Populations: Building Bridges and Establishing a Semen Importation Model.” For more information on this click here.

Dr. Penfold was at International Society of Wildlife Endocrinology where she and others worked together Presentation “International Society for Wildlife Edocrinology: the future of endocrine measures for reproductive science, animal welfare and conservation biology”. Multiple presentations discussed recent advances in basic endocrinology as applied to reproduction. To better understand factors that promote reproduction in captive kori bustards (Ardeotis kori), Linda Penfold (SEZARC/White Oak Holdings) showed how non-invasive faecal testosterone analysis can be used to predict the fertility potential of male and female birds. You may read the entire article here.
