SEZARC lab opens at the University of North Florida

SEZARC officially opened the doors of our laboratory at the University of North Florida at the start of the new semester. The lab, located in UNF’s new Biological Sciences building, provides students with the opportunity to help us learn about the reproductive biology of various exotic species, identify important changes in the endocrine profiles of specific study subjects (like diagnosing pregnancies!), and develop laboratory skills that they can utilize now and in their future careers. One of the primary goals for students this semester is to develop a primate reproductive biology database by analyzing fecal hormone profiles of gorilla, black and white ruffed lemur, colobus, mandrill, and howler monkey. This database will help serve as a reference for each species.
