Anaïs Cathelin, from Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse, and Jacqueline Thomas, from Colorado State University, have joined the SEZARC team for the summer! Anaïs is testing different extraction protocols for white rhino and Western lowland gorilla so that we can better measure reproductive and glucocorticoid hormone metabolites in these species. Jacqueline is assisting us with the bison study, evaluating glucocorticoid metabolites in bison during important management procedures. She is also working on a project of her own design, testing for potential endocrine disrupting compounds in aquarium water to determine if these might contribute to the stingray ovarian disease that SEZARC is investigating.
